neoprint machines speak fluent japanese

this morning i woke up on time, but spent nearly half an hour rooting around for clean underwear and ironing my culottes. my mom has not done the laundry in about a week +, and the resulting pile (taller than me) is causing the air in the kitchen to be suffused with a highly Suspicious smell. anyway, i was late for the mass dance thingy at school by one hour, bleh. don’t ask me how that happened.

the massdance is highly complicated and i foresee extreme difficulties getting the sec1s to put in those nuances that make all the difference. however, 1:30 is a bit short for a dance- i blame the choreographer, who claims that a short but complicated and impressive routine is better than a long and mediocre one.

okay, babe, 3 mins isn’t long, and also, she needn’t have used Getcha Head in the Game (frankly, the most annoying HSM song ever), which has a strange part that goes “why am i feeling so wrong…”, happily sung by that awesomely cute hunk gay faggot Zac Efron. and also, i have the strong feeling “impressive” will be conspicuously absent in my list of adjectives when describing the kind of performance that the sec1s might, and will, give.

but she’s new, so she’ll learn. i imagine i’ll have to play the Terrible Scary Massdance Subcomm Head (yes, a right mouthful, isn’t it) again for let’s see, the third year in a row. ah well. to give ms natalie credit, the dance is pretty okay in itself.

only, i don’t like it very much.

as usual shona and i managed to drag the rest of our mdcapts down to Far East for some Subway schtuff (where someone subsisted on three cookies, which took her longer to finish than the rest of our 6inches, cookies, and drinks). lots of giggling and gossiping about scandalous teachers ensued, and then we decided to take neoprints, only to discover that the FEP neoprint shop was closed.

hooray, really- the machines there had the worst lighting. not to be deterred we walked down to Cine, which has the best (and also msot expensive) machines as far as i’m concerned, with really amusing backgrounds, and the sort of lighting which makes me look like i have perfect skin (miracle).

only thing is even stef, who takes third lang jap, couldn’t understand a word of what the machine was saying. so we screamed and jabbed the screen (stef, helpfully: “oh i know that one means FINISH”. me: “WELL IT SAYS 终了, DUH”) and ended up with pretty screwed up poses (or lack of).

and, see, neoprint machines have green backdrops. stef and shona were (patriotically) wearing green shirts. and a large sign said “note: shirts with a colour similar to the backdrop will not be appropriate”. i think appropriate would be the wrong word, but at one point stef had a very interesting bright blue chest, and shona ended up with a psychedelic striped shirt.

well, at least it beats the time we were ALL wearing green shirts and chose a leopard printed background.
